ChitonSight privacy
This page covers the ChitonSight iOS app — a local companion for HDLiveCam, LookCam, and Ular cameras. It is not a clinic product and not medical advice. Updated September 16, 2026.
Short version
- No ChitonSight account. No signup wall.
- No ChitonSight cloud for camera video or credentials.
- Camera passwords stay in the iOS Keychain on your device.
- Local Network permission is for talking to cameras on your LAN.
- Photos access only if you choose to save a clip.
- Apple App Privacy nutrition label: Data Not Collected posture when that remains accurate for the shipping build.
What the app does not do
ChitonSight does not create an account with us, does not host your streams on a ChitonSight server, and does not add ad SDKs or China OEM phone-home as a product feature. Live view is device-to-camera on your network (or a tunnel you configure, such as Tailscale). Plaintext LAN RTSP is still plaintext LAN RTSP — we do not overclaim end-to-end encryption for vendor streams.
Credentials & Keychain
Hosts, DIDs, and passwords you enter for cameras are stored with the iOS Keychain on your phone. They are not uploaded to a ChitonSight backend. Deleting the app (or clearing Keychain items for the app) removes what the app stored.
Permissions
- Local Network — required to discover and stream from cameras on your Wi‑Fi / LAN. The prompt should describe cameras on your network, not vague “enhance experience” copy.
- Photos — only if you save a recording or still to the library. If you never save, the app does not need Photos access.
Apple privacy nutrition label
For App Store disclosure, ChitonSight is intended to ship under a Data Not Collected posture: the app is not designed to collect personal data from you into a ChitonSight-operated service. If a future build adds collection, this page and the App Store label will be updated before that ships. This statement is about our app behavior — not a guarantee about what third-party camera firmware does on its own network path.
Optional Telegram
If the app offers Telegram notifications or bots, that path is optional and user-supplied (your bot token / chat id, your choice). ChitonSight does not require Telegram. Traffic then goes to Telegram under their terms — not to a ChitonSight message cloud we operate. Leave it blank if you do not want that.
Not medical
ChitonSight is a camera companion tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or monitor health. Optimized Brain hosts this policy as a sober product page — not clinical documentation. Do not send medical details to the contact address below.
