Tool

Friction mapper

Tasks rarely fail from a missing motivational quote. They stall at a specific edge: start, switch, retrieve, decide, environment, energy, other people, or a blob that is too big. Name the task, check the edges, take the output.

Where it snags

Working output

  1. First visible action. Name one visible next action for the stalled task that a stranger could photograph.
  2. Environment change. Make the next action physically easier than opening a new app: object in sight, tab already loaded, or a printed checklist.
  3. Default / rule. Rule: one stalled task per session. Everything else goes to a capture list, not your working memory.
  4. Stop trusting memory for. Stop trusting memory for: the next action; where the file lives. Write it next to the task.

This is a systems tool, not therapy, coaching, or a clinical assessment. It cannot diagnose ADHD or anything else. If the stall is health, safety, or a crisis, talk to a human who is qualified for that — not a checkbox page.
